Michael Willett currently lives and works in Birmingham, AL and is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Montevallo. He received his MFA in Painting from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning and received his BFA in Painting from the University of Montevallo. In addition to his own studio practice, Michael regularly curates exhibitions and is a member of a 4-person artist collective known as SLAPface (see archive). His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in over 60 exhibitions since 2009 and has been acquired in many private collections and public institutions. Recent exhibition venues include: Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, Tennessee Valley Museum of Art, Darger HQ Gallery, LOVE Art Fair in Toronto, South Bend Museum of Art, 33 Contemporary Gallery in Chicago, Ernest Rubenstein Gallery and Pratt Manhattan Gallery in NYC. Recent Publications include New American Paintings, vol. 142 & 118.
